8.4 Strive to increase matriculation rates for Pearland-area students choosing to attend college.

Progress Highlights
  • The opening of Turner College and Career High School has been a major success for the community and will help to further strengthen Pearland's highly educated workforce.
  • Voters in Alvin ISD approved a $245M bond in November 2015 that contains 13 projects including new campuses, land for a fourth high school and a career and technical education center. Construction has started on the new Shadow Creek High School and the school is scheduled to open in fall 2016.
  • UHCL received $26.4 M in funding in the 2015 legislative session for a 60,000 SF Health Sciences building at the UHCL Pearland campus.  The City and UHCL are finalizing the modifications to the current lease of the campus and will provide for the transfer of land for their new building.
